Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with various apex hospitals on Nov. 3 to strengthen the city government’s health programs and expand access to quality medical services for city residents.
Rubiano signed the agreement for the launch of the technical guidelines on referral arrangements within the healthcare provider network.
An apex hospital is defined as an end referral hospital that provide highly specialized medical services and is contracted by PhilHealth as a standalone facility.
These hospitals are equipped to handle complex conditions and procedures that require specialized training and equipment, providing the highest level of care within a referral network.
“The Healthcare Provider Network is more than just a partnership; it is a promise. A promise that our citizens can seek medical help without confusion or delay, and that our facilities will work hand in hand to deliver the right care at the right time. Certainly, we are committed to investing in our health infrastructure, supporting our healthcare workers, and upgrading our systems to meet the growing needs of our people. By strengthening this network, we are also strengthening the foundation of a healthier, more resilient community and country as a whole,” Rubiano said.
The mayor added the MOA also aims to further improve the response to the medical needs of Pasayeños through the connection between hospitals under the Universal Health Act (UHC), the Department of Health (DOH), PhilHealth, and the local government.
