Illicit cigarettes worth P28 M recovered

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Soldiers recovered smuggled cigarettes valued at P27.7 million in the sea of Basilan province on Tuesday.
The Naval Task Force 61 of the Armed Forces Western Mindanao Naval Command stopped a motor banca near Amoyloi Reef in Ungkaya Pukan during a routine patrol operation.
The vessel was inspected and soldiers discovered master cases of undocumented cigarettes.
An inventory valued the contraband at P27.7 million.
The illicit cargo was transported and brought to the Naval Station Romulo Espaldon and subsequently turned over to the Bureau of Customs.
