The city earned five awards, which it described as a testament to Mayor Maan Teodoro’s administration’s commitment to making Marikina a safe, orderly, and compassionate city.
The awards include 1st Place in the Manila Bay Clean-up, Rehabilitation, and Preservation Program (MBCPRP); Ideal Functionality in the Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) Performance Year 2024; Highly Functional in the Local Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Their Children (LCAT-VAWC) 2025 Functionality Audit; Significant and Invaluable Partner in Advancing a Safe, Secure, and Drug-Free NCR; and Top Performer in the MBCPRP Informal Settler Families (ISF) Cluster.
Teodoro expressed gratitude to all city government employees and residents for their shared efforts in keeping Marikina clean, safe, and well-governed, noting that these awards reflect the community’s collective work.
“These awards are a reflection of our collective effort as a community. Cleanliness, safety, and good governance are the core of what we stand for as Marikeños,” she said.
The mayor also stated that the recognitions inspire the city government to further strengthen programs on environmental protection, public safety, and social welfare.
Teodoro also thanked the DILG, saying the awards show Marikina’s ongoing commitment to excellent governance and service.
The Urban Governance Exemplar Awards (UGEA) is the flagship awards program of DILG–NCR, established to recognize and celebrate the exemplary performance and outstanding execution of mandates by local government units (LGUs) in the region.
“This ceremony is especially significant as it also serves to honor and acknowledge the invaluable commitment of our esteemed partners. As such, we wish to formally express our deepest gratitude to the City Government of Marikina for advancing the Department’s endeavors as we strive for excellence, upholding the DILG branding of governance that is Matino, Mahusay, at Maasahan,” the DILG-NCR stated in its letter.
These achievements are rigorously assessed through the department’s various audits and monitoring programs, reflecting the LGUs’ steadfast commitment to good governance.
