Cops recover P17.7-M marijuana in Benguet

BAKUN, Benguet – Police arrested two suspected drug couriers and recovered marijuana worth P17.7 million here on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Lawmen flagged down a vehicle during a checkpoint in Sitio Gakian, Barangay Gambang but it suddenly turned around.

Police pursued caught up with the vehicle in Sitio Mogao, Barangay Gambang.

Two occupants – men aged 25 and 24 and both residents of Parañaque City – were arrested.

Sacks with 127 tubular forms of dried marijuana leaves with a total weight of 127.67 kilos valued at P15.2 million, one plain yellow sack containing 10.27 kilograms of dried marijuana leaves worth P1.2 million, and one garbage bag with 10.4 kilograms of dried marijuana leaves and stalks valued at P1.2 million were recovered from the suspects.

The suspects and contraband were taken to the Bakun MPS for documentation and proper disposition.

Suspects face drug-related charges.
