ILOILO CITY – One person was killed and nearly 98,000 were affected by typhoon ‘’Tino’’ in Antique province.
The Antique Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) said the fatality was a 50-year-old man who drowned in Anini-y town after he was swept away by strong river current in Barangay Salvacion.
The PDDRMO added that nearly 98,000 people were affected, mostly from flooding and landslides, when the storm struck on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
Fifteen thousand persons remain in evacuation centers.
Gov. Paolo Javier issued a memorandum on Wednesday, Nov. 5, ordering the resumption of classes and government work in Antique on Thursday, Nov. 6.
Javier and Rep. AA Legarda distributed relief goods on Wednesday to evacuees in the towns of Belison and Patnongon.
The governor urged the people of Antique to stay vigilant as another weather disturbance, to be named "Uwon" when it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility, is approaching.
