ZAMBOANGA CITY -- The Zamboanga City government launched on Monday, Nov. 3, the “No Phone Weekends” in restaurants and dining establishments for the month of November in celebration of Children’s Month.
Implementation was set for weekends of November from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Social Welfare chief Socorro Rojas said the program aims to foster family togetherness by promoting a gadget-free dining experience and encourage parents and guardians to model responsible use of technology.
Rojas believes that the increasing reliance on mobile phones and electronic gadgets has contributed to reduced personal engagement and communication among family members.
The program aims to promote meaningful positive relationships between parents and children.
The program is in line with Resolution No. 13, Series of 2025, jointly approved by the Zamboanga City Council for the Protection of Children (ZCCPC) and the Zamboanga City Council for Anti-Trafficking in Persons-Violence Against Women and Children (ZCCATIP-VAWC).
Classes suspended
Mayor Khymer Olaso suspended classes on all levels here on Tuesday due to inclement weather from typhoon "Tino."
Heavy rains pummeled Zamboanga City early Tuesday morning.
Residents, particularly those living in vulnerable areas, were advised to take precautionary measures against possible worsening weather conditions.
