'Tino' makes 5 landfalls in Visayas, may hit northern Palawan next

After making five landfalls in the Visayas, Typhoon Tino (international name: Kalmaegi) is moving toward the Sulu Sea and may cross northern Palawan in the coming hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Tuesday, Nov. 4.
Tino made five landfalls on Tuesday, first hitting Silago, Southern Leyte at 12 a.m., followed by Borbon, Cebu at 5:10 a.m.; Sagay City, Negros Occidental at 6:40 a.m.; San Lorenzo, Guimaras at 11:10 a.m.; and Iloilo City, Iloilo at 1:20 p.m.
As of the 5 p.m. bulletin, the center of the typhoon was located over Patnongon, Antique, moving northwestward at 15 kilometers per hour (kph) with maximum sustained winds of 130 kph and gusts of up to 180 kph.
After crossing Panay Island, Tino is expected to move over the Sulu Sea Tuesday afternoon or evening.
Northern Palawan is in its projected path early Wednesday, Nov. 5, raising the possibility of a sixth landfall.
PAGASA said the typhoon may then move into the West Philippine Sea and could exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Wednesday evening or early Thursday, Nov. 6.
PAGASA warned that Tino may steadily re-intensify over the coming days and could reach its peak strength while over the West Philippine Sea.

Signal No. 3 remains in effect over the northernmost portion of mainland Palawan (El Nido, Taytay, Dumaran, Araceli), the rest of Antique, including Caluya Islands, Aklan, Capiz, the rest of Iloilo, northern and central portions of Negros Occidental (Hinigaran, Moises Padilla, Isabela, Binalbagan, City of Himamaylan, San Carlos City, Calatrava, City of Escalante, Sagay City, Toboso, Salvador Benedicto, La Carlota City, Cadiz City, Bago City, Enrique B. Magalona, Valladolid, San Enrique, Bacolod City, La Castellana, Murcia, Silay City, Pulupandan, City of Victorias, City of Talisay, Pontevedra, Manapla), and northern portion of Negros Oriental (City of Guihulngan, La Libertad, Jimalalud, Canlaon City, Vallehermoso).
