In fulfilling its commitment to build thoughtfully designed communities for Filipinos, SM Development Corporation (SMDC) recently launched SMDC Nature, its residential brand focused on giving homeowners opportunities to experience curated nature in thoughtfully designed communities.
SMDC Nature is the latest addition to the residential segments under SMDC’s portfolio, SMDC Heights and Symphony Homes. Under the brand, there are thirty communities located in Metro Manila and in the regions of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. And more developments will be added in the coming months.
“SMDC Nature is about building homes that make everyday life lighter, healthier, and more connected,” said Jessica Bianca Sy, vice president and head of design, innovation, and strategy at SMDC. “Our goal is simple: to help Filipinos live well—closer to work, closer to family, and closer to what matters most.”
“Nature is not just a design theme; it’s a way of life,” said Katrina Bacud, SAVP of project development and management, SMDC Nature. Inspired by nature’s innate sense of balance, SMDC Nature’s residential environment allows residents to slow down, breathe, and live well. In these communities, curated nature blends greenery, convenience, and comfort, where homes are built for wellness, accessibility, and sustainable living.
SMDC Nature adheres to sustainability as a standard. In line with this commitment, SMDC formalized a landmark partnership with Buskowitz Energy Inc., represented by its President James Carlos P. Buskowitz, during the launch at Conrad Manila, held on October 30, 2025.

The collaboration will enable the installation of solar energy systems across multiple SMDC projects, generating clean energy with zero upfront investment and supporting SM Prime’s pledge to achieve Net Zero by 2040. “This partnership marks a major step toward our Net Zero by 2040 roadmap,” Sy emphasized. “By integrating solar power, we are not only building homes that are lighter on resources, but we are also ensuring that the communities we create will remain resilient and future-ready.”
Solar lighting systems and motion-sensor lighting reduce power use by up to 35 percent in common areas. In promoting cleaner mobility, dedicated EV parking and charging solutions will be installed for residents. The properties minimize transport-related emissions by sourcing materials locally to support industries.
Such innovations in energy consumption will make a big difference in reducing carbon footprint when multiplied across the developments.
“Sustainability is not about conserving resources; it is about resilience and well-being. Developments, such as Charm and Field Residences, are equipped with detention tanks to manage water runoff during heavy rains and prevent flooding, an essential feature in today’s changing climate,” mentioned Pamela De Guzman, AVP of project development and management, SMDC Nature.
Another key feature is the landscapes that encourage movement, interaction, and a stronger sense of community. Native and fruit-bearing trees will dot walkable pathways, providing shade and a cooler environment. Some communities come with edible gardens for residents to grow their own herbs and vegetables. “Beyond the environmental benefits, the greenery fosters connection, offering opportunities for sharing harvests and activities that bring people together to strengthen the sense of belonging,” added De Guzman. She also shared that nurseries will be built in selected areas.

For wellness, pet owners will have access to pet-friendly spaces, parks, and trails in future developments. In addition, unit layouts will be fitted with assisted-living features designed to support seniors and individuals with ability challenges.
As a 15-minute community, SM Nature offers a truly unique residential experience as part of an integrated development. “Accessibility is part of livability,” Sy explained. “It’s about being near what you need so life becomes easier and more enjoyable.”
The developments are located near schools, markets, transport, parks, and public spaces, making it possible for residents to commute efficiently and spend more time with their families or attend wellness activities.
