The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) arrested the suspect in the fatal shooting of a 32-year-old man in Barangay Talipapa, Quezon City, on Nov. 2.
According to the police report, the shooting occurred around 5:25 p.m. on Mindanao Avenue in Barangay Talipapa.
The victim, a resident of Barangay West Triangle, was shot by a motorcycle-riding assailant who fled immediately after the attack.
Investigators formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to pursue the case, leading to the identification of the suspect, “Muhammad,” 44, a resident of Barangay Culiat, Quezon City.
The victim’s brother, who also witnessed the incident, positively identified the suspect after reviewing CCTV footage presented by the police.
A joint operation conducted by QCPD’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU), District Special Operations Unit (DSOU), District Investigation Division (DID), QCPD-SWAT, CIDG-QCDFU, and Police Stations 3 and 14 resulted in the arrest of the suspect at his residence around 11:25 p.m. on Nov. 3.
Recovered from the suspect were a .38-caliber revolver loaded with six live rounds, 43 additional pieces of live ammunition, a holster, and a red Honda RS motorcycle believed to have been used during the shooting.
The suspect will face charges for Murder, violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), and Republic Act 11235 (Motorcycle Crime Prevention Act) before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
Police Col. Randy Glenn Silvio, QCPD chief, commended the operatives for their quick response and coordination, which led to the immediate resolution of the case.
“This successful operation once again demonstrates the effectiveness of our Special Investigation Team approach and QCPD’s unwavering commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining peace and order in Quezon City,” he said.
