Pasig hailed as first NCR LGU to localize DILG's 'Tangguyob' disaster resilience platform
With Metro Manila prone to disasters such as earthquakes and flooding, the Pasig City government has been recognized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) as the first local government unit (LGU) in the National Capital Region (NCR) to localize “Tangguyob,” a platform designed to foster knowledge-sharing and strengthen partnerships among stakeholders in building a more more disaster-resilient Metro Manila.

The city localized Tangguyob through the “DRRM Partners’ Convergence: Heeding the Call of Tangguyob, Bridging Partnerships, Empowering Communities.”
“In Pasig City, we heed the sound of the Tangguyob that represents a call for unity, preparedness, and collaboration in the face of disasters and emergencies,” the Pasig City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) said.
“This recognition reflects our continuing commitment to strengthen our local disaster risk reduction and management system, grounded in partnership, innovation, and resilience,” it added.
According to DILG-NCR, Tangguyob is a quarterly convergence spearheaded by the agency that brings together disaster preparedness partners and stakeholders to collaborate on disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM).
It added that it is a platform for sharing knowledge, aligning strategies, and strengthening partnerships across government agencies, local government units, and civil society organizations to build a more resilient Metro Manila.
“Keeping the spirit of the Tangguyob that serves as a platform facility for collaboration and aligning the collective effort of all DRRM initiatives and efforts, the activity gathered DRRM partners and stakeholders from multi-sectoral groups to engage them in the city’s advocacy for a more united stance on disaster preparedness and resilience,” it explained.
DILG–NCR said it will remain committed to supporting Pasig City in its disaster preparedness initiatives.
“With Pasig City as the first LGU to localize the Tangguyob, DILG-NCR will remain a committed partner of the city in its endeavour towards a more coherent stance in disaster preparedness and resiliency,” it stated.
