Government workers are set to receive their year-end bonus and ₱5,000 cash gift as early as this month, according to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
DBM Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman said in a Nov. 4 statement that the scheduled rollout of bonuses aims to acknowledge the efforts of public servants.
“We value the hard work and excellence of the public servants. As such, the benefits are made sure they are delivered on time,” Pangandaman said. The disbursement of the year-end bonus and cash gift is based on Budget Circular No. 2024-3.
Pangandaman added that aside from celebrating the upcoming Christmas holiday, this move also recognizes the service of government workers.
For this year, a total of ₱63.7 billion has been allocated for the year-end bonus of civilian and military or uniformed personnel (MUP).
Meanwhile, ₱9.2 billion has been set aside for the cash gift, covering over 1.85 million government workers nationwide.
In particular, the year-end bonus is equivalent to one month of a government employee’s basic salary as of Oct. 31. This, along with the cash gift, is “given annually to reward the hard work and dedication of government workers.”
All funds for the year-end bonus and cash gift have been released at the start of the fiscal year, “allowing agencies to process and credit the benefits without delay.”
Employees qualified for the bonus and cash gift are those who have rendered at least four months of service since January and are still in government service as of the end of October, according to DBM rules.
All government agencies have also been directed to release the bonuses “promptly,” in accordance with their existing budget circulars.
