The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has appealed for more volunteers to help sustain the production of family food packs at its Luzon Disaster Resource Center (LDRC) in Pasay City for families affected by Typhoon Tino (Kalmaegi).
DSWD-Disaster Response Management Group Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao said the additional manpower is needed to ensure the timely distribution of relief goods to communities affected by the weather disturbance.
Volunteers are accepted daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the LDRC located on Chapel Road, Barangay 195, Pasay City, near the Airport Police and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines.
Two shifts are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 12 noon and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Meanwhile, the DSWD has extended at least ₱1.9 million worth of relief assistance to families affected by Tino.
Dumlao said the humanitarian aid, consisting of food and non-food items, was distributed to Bicol Region, Central Visayas, and Caraga.
