Cash aid, more benefits for Makati City's solo parents under new ordinance
Makati City’s solo parents will receive a much-needed financial help as the city government recently passed an ordinance providing additional cash aid to them, Mayor Nancy Binay said.
The newly approved City Ordinance No. 2025-A-026 or the “Makati Solo Parents Empowerment Program” calls for the distribution of P10,000 cash aid annually to solo parents living in Makati that will be given in two tranches in July and in December.
"Maliban dito, makatatanggap din ng monthly cash subsidy na P1,000 ang mga certified Makati residents na mga solo parent na kumikita ng minimum wage o mas mababa pa. Kailangan ay hindi sila benepisaryo ng iba pang regular government cash assistance program upang makatanggap ng nasabing subsidy (Apart from this, certified Makati residents who are solo parents earning minimum wage or below will also receive a monthly cash subsidy of P1,000. They must not be beneficiaries of other regular government cash assistance programs to receive the said subsidy)," Binay said.
"Ang mga solo parent na may annual income na hindi lalampas sa P250,000 ay magkakaroon ng 10 percent discount at exemption sa value-added tax (VAT) sa gatas at pagkain ng baby at micronutrient supplements; sanitary diapers, at prescribed medicines; vaccines; at iba pang medical supplements para sa kanyang anak o mga anak mula pagkapanganak hanggang anim na taong gulang (Solo parents with an annual income not exceeding P250,000 will have a 10 percent discount and exemption from value-added tax (VAT) on baby milk and food and micronutrient supplements; sanitary diapers, and prescribed medicines; vaccines; and other medical supplements for their child or children from birth to six years of age)," she added.
Under the ordinance, solo parents will also receive support services from the city government such as livelihood and skills training; educational assistance; healthcare assistance; PhilHealth coverage; counselling and support groups, employment and work re-entry programs; and housing assistance.
