CAMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – The Police Regional Office-13 said they are ready for the onslaught of typhoon ‘’Tino’’ in the Caraga region.
It has mobilized disaster teams as precautionary measure against the possible effects of the weather disturbance.
“Yes, our regional command under the leadership of regional director Police Brig. Gen. Marcial Mariano P. Magistrado IV has ordered readiness for immediate response that may arise on the effect of this new typhoon that may hit Caraga region, particularly those areas in the northeastern part of the region, Surigao del Norte, including Siargao Island and the Province of Dinagat Islands,” PRO 13-Regional Public Information Office (RPIO) chief Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer said.
“Our disaster teams from regional provincial, city and municipal police offices are already on standby ready for immediate action or response,” added Ometer.
The city government of Butuan suspended classes on all levels in public schools on Monday, Nov. 3, as precautionary measure against Tino. Private schools were encouraged to cancel classes.
“Our disaster risk reduction and management council personnel are already on standby for immediate response,” Mayor Lawrence Lemuel “Law” H. Fortun said.
Surigao del Norte Rep. Francisco T. Matugas and Gov. Robert Lyndon Barbers said their DRRMCs have convened in preparation for Tino.
They advised the people, particularly those in the islands and coastal communities, to closely monitor weather advisories and follow the instructions of their DRRMCs.
