More than 1.9 million people visited Manila’s cemeteries over the All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day weekend, as the Manila Police District (MPD) reported a peaceful and orderly observance of Undas 2025 across the city.
In his report to Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno" Domagoso, MPD Director Police Brigadier General Arnold Abad said the two-day implementation of “Ligtas Undas 2025” was generally incident-free, owing to close coordination among police units, local government offices, and civic volunteers.
On November 1 (All Saints’ Day), the MPD recorded 1,385,016 visitors across the city’s five major cemeteries.
The Manila North Cemetery logged the highest turnout with 1,195,326 visitors, followed by Manila South Cemetery with 145,860, La Loma Cemetery with 38,200, the Manila Chinese Cemetery with 5,400, and Paco Park Cemetery with 230.
A total of 49 police commissioned officers, 568 non-commissioned officers, and 249 force multipliers were deployed across the city’s cemeteries to ensure public safety and smooth crowd movement.
All cemetery gates were closed at 9 p.m. in compliance with city regulations.
Checkpoints, crowd control, and entry inspections were strictly enforced to uphold public order and local ordinances.
Police confiscated several prohibited items, including bladed weapons, lighters, cigarettes, flammable materials, and karaoke systems, mostly from the Manila North and South Cemeteries, which saw the largest crowds.
The orderly observance continued on November 2 (All Souls’ Day), with the MPD recording an additional 578,050 visitors as of 6 p.m.
The Manila North Cemetery again drew the largest number with 476,650, followed by Manila South Cemetery with 89,370, La Loma Cemetery with 10,980, the Chinese Cemetery with 700, and Paco Park Cemetery with 350.
Beyond the cemeteries, the MPD maintained visibility in 21 bus terminals and at the Manila North Port, where 37 personnel managed the flow of nearly 2,000 passengers traveling during the long weekend.
Close coordination with transport and port authorities ensured smooth operations and public safety.
He added that police visibility and strict monitoring will remain in place through the conclusion of the Undas period to maintain peace and order throughout the city.
