K-drama 'Marry My Husband' star Lee Yi-kyung files criminal complaint vs woman
Korean actor Lee Yi-kyung of the K-dramas “Marry My Husband” and “Marry You” has filed a criminal complaint with the police against a woman who exposed his private life but later backtracked.
The woman uploaded KakaoTalk chats and Instagram DMs with Lee Yi-kyung on her blog that featured explicit language and content.
She later said the images were AI-generated.
"As some of you know, I’ve been posting various photos related to actor Lee Yi-kyung. It started as a joke, and I didn’t expect it to get so much attention. As I kept posting and using AI-generated images, I started to believe my own posts,” she wrote, SBS News reported.
She added, ““I’m truly sorry for spreading malicious rumors about Lee. What began as my love for him as a fan turned into emotional overinvestment. Something that started for fun began to feel real, and I feel guilty. If there’s any responsibility I need to take, I will.”
On Nov. 3, Sangyoung Entertainment, Lee Yi-kyung’s agency, announced the filing of the complaint against the woman.
“First, we deeply regret the recent online spread of false information and defamation regarding our actor Lee Yi-kyung,” the agency said.
It added, “Through our legal representative, we have submitted damages and filed a complaint with the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul against the author and distributor of the related posts, charging them with spreading false information and defamation.”
The agency denied that it settled with the woman.
“We clearly state that there have been no attempts at settlement or compensation discussions regarding this matter, and we will not pursue such efforts in the future. Furthermore, we will continue to monitor and take legal action without leniency against malicious posts and other acts that defame our actors,” it said.
It added, “We deeply recognize that we live in an age where we must protect ourselves from fabricated information and distorted facts. We will do our utmost to prevent damage caused by unfounded speculation and false information and to protect the rights and reputation of our actors.”
