Although the city was wrapped in a gloomy atmosphere, the mood inside SM Mall of Asia Arena was ecstatic and full of energy—all thanks to South Korean superstar Ji Chang Wook.
Chang Wook, the famous Korean actor known for his hit portrayals in dramas such as “Healer,” “The K2,” and “Empress Ki,” visited Manila on Oct. 19, 2025, for a special show as part of I Am Worldwide’s eighth-anniversary celebration, “Domin8.”
A press conference was held earlier that day at The Conservatory, The Peninsula Manila, in Makati City. During the event, the star shared how he never forgets the warmth and love he receives whenever he visits the Philippines.
“I’ve actually been visiting here for my fan meets and brand events. And I think the thing that I really remember up to now is the love that I received,” said Chang-wook, who also admitted that he’s extremely nervous being in front of his Pinoy fans.
“I’m nervous right now, but at the same time, because many of you guys are here for me, I’m very thankful as well. I think I’m mostly excited and looking forward to this event because I'll be meeting my fans,” he shared. “And to talk about influence, I cannot say that a certain project gave me a whole lot of influence, but every scene that I take or every role, bit by bit, those give small influences to me as a person.”
The event marked the actor’s third visit to the Philippines, and he expressed that what stood out the most from his previous trips was the affection he felt from Filipino fans who continue to support him. He also said that it was a surreal feeling to hold another press conference in the country and that he was excited to spend time with his fans during his stay.
There were several moments that made the press conference feel personal and memorable. Near the end, my colleague and friend Jules—who was tasked with asking a question—could not contain her kilig and unconsciously told him that he was so handsome after he answered her question. The whole venue erupted in laughter, including Chang Wook himself, who thanked her for the compliment.
After the press conference, the actor gamely posed for photos and interacted with members of the media, showing his relaxed, fun, and warm personality—traits that make him even more adored by his Filipino fans.
By 9 p.m., the arena was filled with deafening cheers as Chang Wook finally appeared on stage. Fans wearing headbands printed with his image and waving banners with Korean messages filled the venue with excitement.
He delighted the audience by joining a fun charades game, where participants guessed K-dramas flashed on the screen. One of the participants, Pauline, a longtime Chang Wook fan, had her ultimate dream come true when she was chosen as one of the five lucky fans to play charades with him. She even received a power hug from her favorite oppa on stage.
The winner of the game received a memorable gift from Chang Wook—a huge blue stuffed toy and a big warm hug, just like in those sweet scenes from Korean dramas.
Though his appearance was brief, Chang Wook made sure it was a night to remember. His genuine warmth and affection turned a rainy Saturday into a moment that his Filipino fans will treasure for a long time.
