In a heartfelt celebration marking the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines delivered a powerful message of unity, progress, and enduring friendship between China and the Philippines. The event, held on September 25 at Shangri-La The Fort in Taguig City, attended by dignitaries, diplomats, and friends of China, also served as a poignant farewell for the ambassador, who is concluding nearly six years of service in the country.
“It is a great honor and pleasure to welcome you all as we gather here to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China,” by H.E. Ambassador Huang Xilian began, extending his warmest appreciation to the guests in attendance.

Reflecting on China’s journey since 1949, the ambassador highlighted the nation’s transformation into a global economic powerhouse, a hub of innovation, and a steadfast advocate for peace. He noted that China now stands as the world’s second-largest economy, contributing nearly 30 percent to global economic growth, with a 5.3 percent GDP expansion in the first half of the year alone.
He also emphasized China’s technological strides, from high-speed rail and new energy vehicles to 5G and artificial intelligence, underscoring the shift from “Made in China” to “Created in China.” On the global stage, he reaffirmed China’s commitment to peace, referencing the recent Victory Day military parade as a symbol of strength and resolve.
This year also marks two significant milestones: the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the Philippines, and the 80th anniversary of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. The ambassador paid tribute to the historical sacrifices made by the Chinese people and reiterated China’s role in shaping the post-war international order.

“History has taught us that peace, not war; cooperation, not confrontation; and win-win outcomes, not zero-sum games, are the enduring themes of human progress,” he said.
Turning to China–Philippines relations, the ambassador acknowledged the long-standing friendship between the two nations, which spans over a millennium. He expressed optimism that despite current challenges, the relationship would continue to flourish through mutual respect, dialogue, and people-to-people exchanges.
In a deeply personal moment, the ambassador announced his departure after five years and ten months of service, the longest tenure of any Chinese ambassador to the Philippines. He recounted the shared experiences between the two countries, from pandemic cooperation to diplomatic dialogue on maritime issues, and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Filipino people.

As he bid farewell, the ambassador called on “people of vision” to continue advancing China–Philippines relations, ensuring that goodwill and cooperation remain the cornerstone of their shared future.
The evening concluded with a toast to the prosperity of both nations, the well-being of their peoples, and the enduring friendship that binds them.
