4 notorious thieves nabbed during Makati City Halloween party
Four individuals were arrested by the Makati City Police last Nov. 1 after robbing two people during the conduct of Halloween festivities in Barangay Poblacion, Makati City, the Southern Police District (SPD) said.
Brig. Gen. Randy Arceo, SPD's District Director, identified the suspects as alias Jay, 38, Arturo, 58, Adelya, 49, and Daven, 30.
According to the police, the 29-year-old victim sought assistance from roving police officers after he was robbed by Arturo and Jay of his cellphone while attending the Red Nights Halloween Event along Doña Carmen Street.
The police recovered two cellphones from the suspects, including the victim's stolen phone.
While Jay and Arturo were undergoing inquest proceedings, another victim reported to the police that she was also victimized by Jay and Arturo earlier that day.
A follow-up operation was launched against the other suspects, which led to their arrests at the corner of Burgos Street and General Luna Street in Barangay Poblacion.
Adelayda and Daven were caught inside their getaway vehicle, where they yielded the lady victim's cellphone, as well as various other cellphones that were believed to be stolen.
The arrested suspects are now facing theft charges, Arceo said.
“This operation demonstrates the vigilance and swift response of our Makati police personnel in maintaining peace and order, especially during large public gatherings. Their dedication and teamwork ensure that criminals have no space to operate within our communities,” he noted.
