Director Dante Balboa
The daring movie "Walong Libong Piso" under BenTria Productions has been extended at Isetann Cinerama in Manila.
This was announced by the film's director, Dr. Dante Balboa, who is now busy rehearsing for the stage version of the hit movie. He said it is also possible that the movie will be shown in the provinces following inquiries.
"There have been inquiries for the movie to be shown in the provinces. The problem is, I am not a booker (for movies). So I will discuss these concerns with our producer, Engr. Benjie Austria," Dante said.
"Walong Libong Piso" was filmed as a one-character movie in a single sequence lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes. It stars Paolo Gumabao in one of his most daring characters. "It was shot in one setting and one location."
Additionally, Dante expressed his delight over the positive reviews for the film. Some comments:
"The story builds to a big, shocking ending that delivers a powerful message about the hidden realities of show business," said film critic Danielle Gaddi.
"If you're cinematic palate hungers for a very unique high-wire experimental endeavor, you are in for a rare and raw treat," commented film critic Joseph Pastura.
Due to insistent public demand, "Walong Libong Piso" will have a rerun at Teatrino in Greenhills on Nov. 29, Dec. 5, Dec. 12, and Dec. 14. There will be two shows for every play date: 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.
Dante announced that the movie will receive its first set of awards during the Philippine Glitter Awards, which will be held at the Victoria Tower in Quezon City on Nov. 30.
"Walong Libong Piso" will receive recognition for Best Director, Best Actor (Paolo Gumabao), and Film Producer of the Year (Engr. Benjamin Austria).
"Walong Libong Piso," a film written and directed by Dante, also aims to be recognized in the Guinness Book of World Records due to its unique technical aspects.
Dante revealed that the film stands out in remarkably distinct ways, each one contributing to its uniqueness and depth.
"It is a movie with one character, one sequence, one concept, one story, one setting, one location, one single shot, one shooting take, one set design, one lighting design, one central theme, one conflict, one theme song, one writer, one director, one small budget, and one adaptation," he added.
