ILOILO CITY — Four teenage boys were condemned for stealing food in a cemetery in Guimaras province and posting their acts online on Saturday evening, Nov. 1, All Saints' Day.
“Wala ginatolerar sang Munisipyo ang mga online content nga naga padayaw kag naga dusu sang krimen, naga disrepetar sang mga nagtaliwan, kag naga pakadlaw kadlaw sang amo sini nga mga buluhaton (The municipality does not tolerate an online content that glorifies and promotes crime, disrespects the deceased, and makes fun of such activities),” said Mayor John Edward Gando of Jordan, the capital town of Guimaras.
“Ang aton nga mga patyo, sagradao (Our cemeteries are sacred),” added Gando after seeing the video on Saturday evening.
The video showed four teenage boys filming themselves going around the cemetery, stealing food offering, eating, and laughing about their deed.
The boys were tracked down and were summoned in a meeting with Gando and the Jordan Municipal Police Station on Sunday morning, Nov. 2.
“Nagkomiter ang mga inbolbado nga indi na magliwat, mangayu sang pasaylo sa publiko kag nag boluntaryo nga maninlo sa patyo (Those involved assured not to repeat it, will issue a public apology and volunteered to clean up the cemetery),” disclosed Gando.
“Apisar sini nga hitabu, nagapati ako nga ang mga taga-Jordan mga but-anan kag may pinanilagan (Despite this incident, I believe that the people of Jordan town are kind and considerate),” added Gando.
