LUCENA CITY, Quezon – Two toddlers were killed in a fire that destroyed their house in Purok 5, Barangay Dalahican, this city, on All Saints’ Day.
Police identified the victims as Francis, one-year-old, and brother Vladimir, two.
The fire broke out at the house owned by their auntie Joyce, 26, at about 10 p.m.
Neighbors joined hands to extinguish the fire until firefighters arrived and put out the blaze almost an hour later.
Arson investigators said the fire was caused by an unattended improvised lamp.
Firemen recovered the body of Francis while Vladimir was taken to Quezon Medical Center here where he was declared dead.
Damage to property was estimated at P150,000.
Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
Meanwhile, a 19-year-old student drowned while swimming on a river in Barangay Santo Anghel, Calauag, this province, on All Saints’ Day.
The victim, Carlo, single, from Bacoor City, Cavite province, was rescued and taken to a medical facility where he was declared dead.
