BUSAN, South Korea — Vice President Sara Duterte has urged Filipinos to find strength in faith and unity as the nation commemorates All Saints Day and All Souls Day—Undas—a time of remembrance for departed loved ones and devotion to the saints.
In her message, Duterte encouraged the public to reflect on the deeper meaning of the annual observance, saying it is not only a moment to honor the dead but also to reaffirm faith and family values.
“Sa ating paggunita ng Undas, nawa’y isapuso natin ang tunay na diwa ng pananampalataya, pagpapahalaga sa mga santo at maalab na pag-alala sa ating mga yumaong mahal sa buhay (As we commemorate Undas, may we take to heart the true spirit of faith, reverence for the saints, and heartfelt remembrance of our departed loved ones),” she said.
The Vice President urged Filipinos to continue praying for the peace of the souls of their loved ones and to draw inspiration from their memory.
“Patuloy nating ipanalangin ang kapayapaan at katahimikan ng kanilang mga kaluluwa. Sana’y maging inspirasyon ang kanilang alaala sa bawat hakbang natin sa buhay (Let us continue praying for the peace and rest of their souls. May their memory serve as inspiration in every step we take in life),” she added.
Duterte called on families to use the occasion as an opportunity to strengthen their bonds and renew hope amid life’s challenges.
“Ngayong Undas, nawa’y manaig ang pagkakaisa at pag-asa sa bawat pamilyang Pilipino (This Undas, may unity and hope prevail in every Filipino family),” she said.
The Vice President also reminded Filipinos to face each day with faith, optimism, and love, even beyond the solemn observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days.
“Harapin natin ang bawat araw ng may pananampalataya, pag-asa at pagmamahal (Let us face each day with faith, hope, and love),” she said.
