Christmas is the season of giving, a time to share hope and kindness with the community. This spirit shone brightly at the “Pearl of the Holiday Season” Christmas Tree lighting ceremony, a tribute to Cebu’s strength and resilience, like a pearl that becomes more radiant through every challenge. Celebrating this spirit of unity and generosity, NUSTAR Resort Cebu officially welcomed the holiday season.
With three hotels offering a total of 973 rooms, NUSTAR Resort Cebu continues to expand its world-class hospitality, now nearing full completion with the soon-to-open Grand Summit. Its dedication to excellence has earned recognitions such as a spot on the Michelin Guide’s Recommended Hotels List and Tripadvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Award for Fili Hotel NUSTAR. Guided by Filipino hospitality, the resort strives to create meaningful experiences, empower its people, and uplift the community it serves.

Drawing inspiration from the pearl’s symbolism of resilience, NUSTAR put the spotlight on Cebu’s spirit with The Children of Cebu Foundation, Inc. (TCCFI) as this year’s star bearers. Through its philanthropic arm, the Universal Cultural Foundation, Inc. (UCFI), the resort supported the foundation in improving its facilities and equipment to ensure a safer, more nurturing space for the children. The initiative reflects the resort’s continued dedication to uplifting the local community.
NUSTAR Resort and Casino Cebu COO Sean Knights and TCCFI Vice President Dr. Clarissa Pe led the ceremonial donation handover, with the Christmas tree now shining as a symbol of hope and joy for the season. They were joined by Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival and Acting Cebu City Vice Mayor Winston Pepito, who graced the event.
“Every year, this celebration gives us the opportunity to pause and reflect; to celebrate how far we’ve come, and to remind us of what truly matters. This year’s theme, 'Pearl of the Holiday Season,' holds a special meaning for all of us. The pearl is born through time, pressure, and transformation. From something ordinary comes something radiant: a symbol of beauty, strength, and grace. In many ways, it mirrors our story as a community and as a resort. Cebu, like the pearl, continues to rise with resilience and shines brighter with every challenge it overcomes,” shared Knights.

After lighting up the Christmas tree and marking the start of the holidays, NUSTAR continues the celebration with festive dining and seasonal experiences. Xin Tian Di serves its Prosperity Trio and festive set menus, while Il Primo and Mott 32 offer elegant multi-course meals and champagne-paired menus. Fili Café features daily buffets throughout December to New Year’s Eve, and the lobby lounges present afternoon teas and handcrafted treats. At The Mall | NUSTAR, guests can look forward to live performances, family activities, and new retail openings throughout the holidays.
