An illegal firecracker maker was arrested by the police in Sitio Diliman Partida, Barangay Pulong Buhangin, Santa Maria, Bulacan on Friday afternoon, Oct. 31.
Lt. Col. Mark Louie M. Sigua, acting chief of the Santa Maria Police, said the operation was launched after a concerned citizen reported a firecracker manufacturing activity in the area.
Responding officers arrested the suspect, identified only as alias “Raul,” 44, a resident of Barangay Pulong Buhangin. He was caught producing kwitis without the required permit from government authorities.
Confiscated from the suspect were one and a half boxes of unfinished kwitis and one container nearly full of incomplete firecrackers, totaling about 1,500 pieces worth P5,500.
The suspect will face charges for violation of Republic Act 7183, or the Firecracker Law.
Bulacan Police director Col. Angel Garcillano reminded the public that manufacturing firecrackers without a proper permit is strictly prohibited and poses a serious safety risk.
He urged residents to report similar illegal activities to help prevent firecracker-related accidents and maintain peace and order in their communities.
