CEBU CITY – This lola became just the 12th centenarian in Danao City, northern Cebu province.
Her secret to a long life? Vegetables and rice corn.
Pilar Capoy Batoon, a native of Tuburan Sur, Danao, shared her secret to longevity when city officials visited her after turning 100 on Oct. 12.
Aside from maintaining a healthy diet, Batoon, a mother of five, shared another secret.
“Always be thankful to God,” said Batoon.
During the visit, Danao Mayor Nito Durano, along with personnel of the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs, handed over P100,000 in cash incentive to Batoon.
Durano emphasized that handing out cash incentives is one way of recognizing Bitoon for providing inspiration to the people of Danao.
Ordinance No. 32-15 is giving P100,000 lifetime centenary allowance and P25,000 as mortuary assistance.
“It is not just about recognizing but also the city’s way of showing care and compassion to every Danawanon,” said Durano.
