PCSO marks 91st anniversary; vows to strengthen aid, uphold legacy of service

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) celebrated its 91st anniversary on Thursday, Oct. 30, coinciding with the National Day of Charity, reaffirming its commitment to serve the Filipino people through programs that promote health, compassion, and social welfare.
Carrying the theme “A Legacy of Service: The Strength Behind the Future,” PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles said the agency continues to uphold its mission of extending help and compassion to those who need it most.
“For 91 years, PCSO has remained strong because of our people—their dedication, integrity, and heart for service. Together, we will continue to be the strength behind a more compassionate future,” Robles said.
“We thank our employees, partners, and the Filipino public for their continued trust and support to our lotto products.”
He added that the agency’s financial stability has allowed it to expand its assistance programs nationwide, including medical aid and support to communities affected by disasters
As part of its month-long celebration, the PCSO held the 2025 Charity Run at the Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati City, in partnership with RunRio. More than 4,000 runners from government agencies, private institutions, and the public joined the event to promote health, unity, and social responsibility.
Also, the agency held a Thanksgiving Mass and Service Awards on Oct. 24 at the Foro de Intramuros, honoring employees with 10 to 30 years of service, as well as long-serving personnel who have dedicated 40 to 45 years to the organization.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. delivered a video message commending PCSO’s contributions to nation-building and charitable work.
In celebration of the National Day of Charity, PCSO spearheaded simultaneous nationwide charitable activities to aid communities in need.

Milestones, social impact
Robles reported that PCSO’s revenues reached P61.4 billion in 2023 and P62.3 billion in 2024, exceeding pre-pandemic levels. 
Among its achievements is the distribution of a record 1,540 patient transport vehicles or ambulances to local government units across the country.
“We will continue to work hard to attain our target of distributing 1,724 ambulance units for this year,” Robles stated.
Since 2022, PCSO has released P14.56 billion in medical assistance to more than 1.36 million patients, donated P125 million worth of medical equipment, and extended P74.88 million to institutional partners.
It also distributed 233,250 “Charitimba” food packs and over 10,000 assistive devices to calamity victims, while remitting P18.7 billion to other government agencies and allocating P4.2 billion to charity funds supporting public health and social services.
Robles said the PCSO’s performance improvements have been recognized by the Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG), citing its rising performance score—from 56 percent in 2021 to 92.03 percent in 2023, earning it the “Most Improved GOCC” title and enabling employees to receive performance bonuses for the first time in nine years.
PCSO also received the ARTA Silver Award, GCG Stakeholders Relations Award, ISO 9001:2015 recertification, and WLA Level II Certification for Responsible Gaming.
In 2023, Robles became the first Filipino elected to the APLA Executive Committee.
