The San Juan City Police arrested a notorious carnapper for stealing two electric bikes (e-bikes) on two separate occasions, Eastern Police District (EPD) Director Brig. Gen. Aden Lagradante said.
Lagradante identified the suspect as alias "Bidjang," 19, and a resident of Sta. Mesa, Manila.
Based on the police report, the victim went to a birthday party along Callejon Street in Barangay Salapan on her e-bike last Oct. 27.
She found out that her e-bike was stolen the following day after seeing the suspect driving the vehicle along Aurora Boulevard, prompting her to chase after Bidjang together with other policemen on patrol near the area where he was finally arrested.
Subsequent investigation uncovered that the suspect had previously committed another e-bike theft in Barangay San Perfecto on Oct. 24. He said he and his cohorts hid the stolen e-bike in Pasay City.
A follow-up operation was conducted by the police which led to the recovery of the stolen vehicle.
Bidjang is currently detained at the San Juan City Police Custodial Facility and is facing carnapping charges.
