A magnitude 4.3 earthquake struck off the coast of Sarangani Island in Davao Occidental on Friday afternoon, Oct. 31, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
In its Earthquake Information No. 1 bulletin, the agency said the quake occurred at 12:06 p.m.
Phivolcs said the quake is tectonic in origin, meaning it was caused by the movement of rock layers beneath the earth’s crust.
The agency said the quake’s epicenter was located about 115 kilometers southeast of Sarangani Island in Davao Occidental at a depth of 37 kilometers.
No damage or aftershocks are expected following the quake, Phivolcs added.
