ZAMBOANGA CITY – Thirteen public utility vehicle drivers tested positive for illegal drugs during a random drug testing under “Oplan: Harabas” for “Undas” conducted at the Integrated Bus Terminal here on Thursday, Oct. 30.
It was run by a composite team from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-9, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-9, Land Transportation Office-9, and the Zamboanga City Police Office.
A total of 281 drivers of passenger buses, tricycles, taxis, and vans and transport porters were tested.
Those who tested positive will be made to undergo confirmatory tests and face revocation of their drivers’ licenses should they test positive.
The program is an annual nationwide activity to curb the use of illegal drugs among personnel in the transportation sector and ensure travel safety for passengers during the All Saints’ Day weekend.
