UKFP holds successful nat'l kendo tourney

  • The United Kendo Federation of the Philippines (UKFP) successfully held the 7th Philippine National Kendo Tournament (PNKT) last Oct. 25 and 26 at the Gameville Ball Park, Greenfields District, Mandaluyong City.
The United Kendo Federation of the Philippines (UKFP) successfully held the 7th Philippine National Kendo Tournament (PNKT) last Oct. 25 and 26 at the Gameville Ball Park, Greenfields District, Mandaluyong City. 
The two-day event brought together kendo practitioners from across the country for both a shinsa (grading examination) and a shiai (tournament), marking one of the largest and most spirited gatherings in Philippine kendo history.
The event opened with an official shinsa (grading), offering ranks from 6th Kyu to 1st Kyu, and 1st Dan to 4th Dan. With 110 registrants, this was the largest shinsa ever conducted by the UKFP, reflecting the rapid growth of kendo in the Philippines.
The opening ceremony was honored by the presence of His Excellency Endo Kazuya, Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines, and Matsuda Shigehiro, Director of the Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC).
