Murder suspect killed in shootout with San Jose del Monte police
A murder suspect was killed in a shootout with police officers on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 29, in Barangay Muzon South, City of San Jose del Monte (CSJDM).
According to police reports, the CSJDM Police Station received a call at around 1:45 p.m. regarding a man indiscriminately firing a short firearm in the area.
Responding personnel from Sector 3 of the San Jose del Monte City Police Station arrived at the scene and were met with gunfire from the suspect, identified only as “Ken,” who had an outstanding warrant of arrest for murder.
The officers returned fire, critically wounding the suspect. He was rushed to the Ospital ng Lungsod ng San Jose del Monte, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Recovered from the scene were a Taurus 9mm pistol and multiple spent shells, which were submitted for further investigation.
A member of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), who assisted in the operation, sustained a minor injury on his right arm and received immediate medical treatment.
Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio I. Peñones Jr., regional director of the Central Luzon police, praised the swift response of the officers involved.
“The swift and disciplined action of our personnel reflects our continued dedication to protect the people and preserve peace and order across Central Luzon,” he said.
