Las Piñas City Mayor April Aguilar said personnel from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), local police under the supervision of Col. Sandro Tafalla, Traffic and Parking Management Office (TPMO), and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) have started visiting cemeteries and columbaria in preparation for the influx of visitors expected to pay their respects to their departed loved ones from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2.
Tafalla said that aside from their deployment in cemeteries and columbaria, police personnel composed of the Red Team, Quick Response Team (SWAT/TMRU), Covert Security, and Paneling and Monitoring Team will also be deployed in churches and malls during Undas.
DRRMO head Alejandro Dela Merced said they also coordinated with cemetery and columbarium managements for the deployment of emergency and preparedness response teams, which will be activated from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2, between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m.
Dela Merced said the deployment includes doctors and nurses, a search and rescue team, an ambulance unit, fire suppression teams, and volunteer groups.
The mayor also ordered the police, BFP, and DRRMO to ensure the safety of visitors and maintain peace and order at Las Piñas City Columbarium in Barangay Ilaya, and at Saint Joseph Public Cemetery and Golden Haven Memorial Park, both in Barangay Pulanglupa Uno.
The mayor said smaller cemeteries in the city will be manned by barangay personnel, who were also instructed to set up first aid stations and medical teams throughout the Undas observance.
The TPMO, headed by Jose Gonzales, said there will be no road closures on Nov. 1, while 86 traffic enforcers will be deployed to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
Gonzales said U-turn slots will be designated on both the northbound and southbound lanes of C5 Extension, with the exit point at Mapayapa Subdivision, to ensure smooth traffic flow in the area and prevent motorists and pedestrians from getting caught in heavy traffic near Golden Haven Memorial Park.
