The Police Regional Office-1 is on heightened alert for a peaceful “Undas” in the Ilocos region.
Police Brig. Gen. Dindo R. Reyes, PRO-1 regional director, said they are closely coordinating with local government units and other government agencies for the implementation of comprehensive security coverage and public safety measures.
Reyes ordered the maximum deployment of police personnel to ensure the safety of people in cemeteries, memorial parks, and columbaria and maintain peace and order in residential areas, tourist destinations, other places of convergence, and vital installations.
Police are backed by advocacy support groups, barangay tanods, and other force multipliers.
To effectively manage the increase in travelers and motorists and ensure smooth traffic, road safety marshals have been deployed in strategic locations in the region.
Police assistance hubs (PAHs) have been established on highways, cemeteries, airports, seaports, bus terminals, malls, and resorts.
“PRO-1 is committed to ensuring that everyone can pay their respects to their departed loved ones safely and solemnly. We appeal to the public for full cooperation by remaining vigilant, reporting any suspicious activities, and adhering to all safety and traffic guidelines set by local authorities,” said Reyes.
