Barker, 63, bludgeoned to death by tricycle driver in Tondo
A 63-year-old barker was bludgeoned to death by his tricycle driver neighbor with a baseball bat on Dagupan Extension in Tondo, Manila, last Oct. 28, authorities said.
Based on the police report, the victim's relative said the old man visited them to collect the payment for his room for rent when the incident occurred.
The witness claimed that the 37-year-old suspect possibly became infuriated by the victim's noise, causing him to attack the old man later that night.
He added that this is not the first time the suspect allegedly tried to hurt the victim.According to the officials of Barangay 184, they did not see the actual attack of the suspect, as they were busy responding to a robber who was arrested near the area.
A barangay watcher then saw the suspect carrying a baseball bat while following the victim, prompting him to stop the suspect.
As he went back to the barangay hall to call for backup, the suspect struck the senior citizen in the head with the baseball bat multiple times before escaping on an e-bike.
The officials subsequently saw the bloodied body of the victim left along the sidewalk.
He was quickly rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The Manila Police District (MPD) said a manhunt operation was launched to apprehend the suspect.
