SC to designate special trial courts to handle cases on flood control mess, other infra projects
The Supreme Court (SC) decided to designate special courts to exclusively hear and decide corruption-related cases in the anomalous flood control and other infrastructure projects.
With its decision, the SC directed its Office of the Court Administrator (OCA) to monitor the filing of corruption cases before the regional trial courts (RTCs).
The directive was contained in Administrative Matter No. 25-10-24-SC.
Among the judiciary’s specialized courts are those handling commercial, family, and illegal drugs cases.
The SC Office of the Spokesperson said the High Court continues to implement reforms under the five-year Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations, including the development of eCourt PH and other digitization projects to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability in the judiciary.
These reforms cover all court levels – the trial courts, the Court of Appeals, the Sandiganbayan, the Court of Tax Appeals, and the SC.
Through the SPJI, the SC seeks to address the long-standing problems of delay and case backlog by institutionalizing efficient processes, adopting innovative solutions, and expanding access to justice for all.
