Perfectly shaded: 10 years of stylish and smart window design
Celebrating Hunter Douglas' milestone in the Philippines and its vision for smarter, more connected living
A room feels complete when its windows are dressed with the right covering. It adds privacy, manages light, and gives the space a polished look. Stylish and smart window solutions make everyday living more comfortable and efficient. Hunter Douglas celebrates a decade in the Philippines with its exclusive distributor, Focus Global Inc., whose luxury portfolio—including SieMatic, Sub-Zero, Dornbracht, and B and B Italia—reflects their shared commitment to style, comfort, and sustainability.
Founded in 1919 by Henry Sonnenberg in Düsseldorf, Germany, Hunter Douglas began as a machine tool company. In 1946, Sonnenberg and Joe Hunter developed lightweight aluminum slats for Venetian blinds, marking the start of the brand’s legacy. That same spirit of innovation now defines its smart window solutions, created for modern, connected living.
The celebration, themed “10 Years of Living with Light,” also marked the launch of the brand’s PowerView Gen 3 Automation, an easier way to access and manage window coverings at home. Now equipped with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, it lets homeowners adjust or schedule their shades through the app for a simpler, smarter lighting experience. Guests also experienced how Duette Honeycomb Shades not only filter sunlight beautifully but also reduce outside noise, combining comfort, function, and design in one elegant solution.
Stephen Sy, president of Focus Global Inc., reflected the company’s enduring partnership with the brand, saying, “Celebrating 10 years with Hunter Douglas is a proud milestone for Focus Global. It affirms the trust Filipino homeowners, architects, and designers place in our shared vision of timeless design and premium performance."
He added, “Hunter Douglas is a perfect complement to our portfolio of world-class brands offering smart and stylish window solutions that transform how we experience light. We mark this decade by looking forward—shaping smarter, more beautiful, intelligent homes for the future."
The event also featured the brand's products showcased in clients’ homes, each highlighting a distinct aesthetic and function. In Trevi Subdivision, Marikina, Country Woods blinds framed a bay window nook with warm wood slats that softened natural light. In Ayala Westgrove, Cavite, Pirouette window shadings lined the hallway with fabric vanes that diffused sunlight and complemented the home’s modern lines. Adding to the celebration, Matteo Guidicelli was introduced as the new Friend of Hunter Douglas, sharing how the brand’s design and innovation align with his lifestyle and the values of today’s homeowners.
From its early innovations to ten years in the Philippines, Hunter Douglas remains committed to creating homes that are both functional and well-designed. With smart window solutions that bring comfort, efficiency, and style together, the brand continues to show how living with light can be simple and smart.
