Pasig LGU boosts ties with private sector to improve project procurement
To provide better services for the people, the local government of Pasig strengthened its collaboration with the private sector through “Market Encounter 2025,” an event aimed at improving procurement, which is the process of planning, buying, and managing city projects efficiently.
The two-day event was held at the Chardonnay Events Hall by Astoria on Oct. 23 and 24, where a total of 73 suppliers and companies from the private sector participated to engage with end-users from the local government.
The city government said the event aimed to explain key changes under Republic Act No. 12009 (New Government Procurement Act) and expand end-users’ knowledge on proper planning and preparation of comprehensive government procurement projects.
In addition, the initiative also allowed government officials to consult with suppliers, contractors, and consultants as a step toward promoting inclusivity and economic development in the city.
Their discussions included market understanding, delivery and inspection of goods, and the use of technologies such as eMarketplace to make procurement processes faster and more efficient.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto attended the event and highlighted the importance of initiatives like this in strengthening government systems.
He added that with proper management and collaboration with partner sectors, the local government can operate more efficiently and provide better services to stakeholders.
The event also featured talks by experts from various sectors, including Deputy Executive Director of the Procurement Service–Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM), Atty. Marlita V. Dagsa; Executive Vice President of the Pasig Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc., Ms. Gia Veloso; Program Officer of the Philippine Center for Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development, Inc., Ms. Brenda Hazel Butardo; and Senior Trade-Industry Development Specialist of the Department of Trade and Industry – Bureau of Philippine Standards (DTI-BPS), Engr. Frankincense M. Macula.
The local government said its goal remains clear, which is to continuously strengthen a transparent, efficient, and modern government system and ensure faster, more effective service delivery to every Pasigueño.
