'Nagma-meow lang': Ridon says Barzaga doesn't deserve coast guard's attention

Bicol Saro Party-list Rep. Terry Ridon says "congressmeow" Cavite 4th district Rep. Francisco "Kiko" Barzaga doesn't deserve any attention coming from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), particularly after the latter called for its abolition on questionable grounds.
In a press conference Wednesday, Oct. 29, Ridon made no effort to hide his disdain for the eccentric Barzaga, whom he said "does nothing but meow".
"Hindi ho magkapantay mga kababayan yung pagtatangi ho natin sa coast guard at kay Kiko Barzaga (My countrymen, we don’t hold the coast guard and Kiko Barzaga in the same regard)," said the lawyer-solon.
Ridon reminded Filipinos that PCG members "[subject] themselves to water cannons, to everything else that China and Beijing is launching against them".
"Who is Kiko Barzaga? Nagma-'meow meow' lang, di ba? (He just meows, right?)" he added.
"Hindi dapat pinapansin ng coast guard yan eh kasi dapat very mission-focused po yung coast guard para tindigan po yung West Philippine Sea (WPS). I think hindi ho dapat pinag-uusapan, pinagdedebatihan kung tama ba or hindi yung trabaho ng magigiting po nating coast guard," noted Ridon, overall chaiman of House Infrastructure Committee (infra comm).
(The coast guard shouldn’t be paying attention to that because they should be very mission-focused in standing firm for the West Philippine Sea (WPS). I think the work of our brave coast guard should not be talked about or debated as to whether it’s right or wrong.)
Bazarga--a known rage-baiter on social media--recently posted a video wherein he called for the abolition of the PCG. He called the PCG a corrupt organization that was allegedly leading Filipinos toward World War III by meddling with China's affairs with Taiwan.
The gen Z solon, who has also packaged himself as a white knight against corruption in government, has gained a boost in his social media following ever since he began to assail the Marcos administration. He originally supported President Marcos.
For Ridon, Barzaga's statements are simply devoid of merit.
"Hindi dapat pinag-uusapan kung dapat bang i-abolish yung coast guard dahil sila po yung pinakamahalagang tumitindig, nasasaktan, at napeperwisyo sa bawat araw po na ginagawa ng Tsina laban sa ating bansa doon po sa mga lugar na pinagdedebatihan, pinaglalabanang teritoryo sa [WPS].
(There should be no discussion about whether the coast guard should be abolished because they are the most vital force standing up, getting hurt, and being affected every single day by what China is doing to our country in the disputed and contested territories in the [WPS].)
"Ibig sabihin, he (Barzaga) does deserve any comment on the coast guard dahil yun pong coast guard, ginagawa po nila ang lahat para sa mga kababayan po natin (That means, he does not deserve any comment on the coast guard because the coast guard is doing everything for our fellow citizens)," Ridon said.
