President Marcos has approved and ordered the implementation of the Tatak Pinoy Strategy (TPS), which aims to strengthen local industries, boost production of local products, and enhance the competitiveness of Filipino offerings of goods and services.
In a statement, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) on Wednesday, Oct. 29, described the strategy as a comprehensive national plan that will bring the local industries to the global stage.
Marcos signed Memorandum Circular No. 104, which directs all all national government agencies, government-owned or -controlled corporations (GOCCs), and local government units (LGUs) to support the implementation of the strategy.
The strategy was developed by the Tatak Pinoy Council with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and in consultation with other stakeholders.
According to the PCO, MC 104 was signed in response to Republic Act (RA) No. 11981, or the Tatak Pinoy (Proudly Filipino) Act, which was enacted “to encourage, support, and promote the production and offering of Philippine products and services that are increasingly diverse, sophisticated, and globally competitive.”
The Tatak Pinoy Strategy had been formulated and submitted to the President to outline the action plans that will expand and diversify the production of local goods and services at the national, provincial, city, and municipal levels.
The strategy will also empower domestic enterprises “to produce increasingly sophisticated goods and services that can compete in the global market.”
The DTI, in coordination with the PCO, is directed to disseminate the official copy of the TPS to all concerned government agencies and offices.
A copy will also be publicly accessible through the DTI's official website and other appropriate platforms to promote transparency and stakeholder engagement.
