Boxing icon Manny Pacquiao revealed that there are ongoing negotiations between his camp and Floyd Mayweather Jr. for a possible rematch next year.
The 46-year-old Pacquiao, who came out of retirement for his Mario Barrios bout last July, said that there might be a sequel to their famous "Fight of the Century" in May 2015.
“We’re finalizing a few conditions, hoping na magkasundo kami, marami ding mga opponent pero inaayos pa namin..” said Pacquiao on Wednesday, Oct. 29.
“Siguro after this [Thrilla in Manila 2], we’ll give feedback about the negotiations… we’ll announce it,” he added.
Rumors of a possible rematch have been circulating for years since their first encounter which favored the American boxer. None of those pushed through.
The former senator also mentioned Ukrainian Vasyl Lomachenko, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and world boxing champion who hung up his gloves recently, as one of his next possible opponents.
On the other hand, it’s been a while since Mayweather fought professionally, but has welcomed exhibition matches like Pacquiao.
The Filipino legend was appointed vice president of the International Boxing Association.
