The Makati City government will distribute P34 million in financial assistance for provinces and municipalities affected by recent earthquakes and typhoons.

Mayor Nancy Binay said the city’s aid program aims to support disaster-hit communities as they rebuild.
The allocation was approved by the City Council under Resolutions 2025-A-017 and 2025-A-018 last Oct. 13, authorizing the release of assistance to LGUs struck by the 6.9-magnitude earthquake in Cebu and those affected by Tropical Cyclones Mirasol, Nando, and Opong and the southwest monsoon.
“We in the City of Makati support and pray for the victims of the recent earthquakes and typhoons. We want to show them empathy and give them hope as they rebuild their lives and communities,” she said.
The city government said that a total of P13.5 million will go to Cebu Province, with P2.25 million allocated to the provincial government and P1.5 million each to the cities and municipalities of Bantayan, Bogo, Daanbantayan, Madridejos, Medellin, and San Remigio.
Meanwhile, the P20.5 million will be distributed among 38 other LGUs across Mindoro, Masbate, Aklan, Maguindanao del Sur, Cagayan, and Romblon, depending on the extent of the disaster impact.
In addition to financial support, the Makati Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) deployed a 12-man search and rescue team with complete equipment to assist in Cebu’s relief operations.
Under the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010, local governments are authorized to transfer funds to other LGUs declared under a state of calamity with the approval of their respective councils.
The city government has long been recognized for its swift humanitarian assistance to disaster-hit communities, maintaining its role as a key partner in national disaster recovery efforts.
