HYBE's boy band &Team debuts in Korea, achieves second million record with 'Back to Life'
&Team, Korean entertainment company HYBE’s Japan-based boy band, succeeded in their Korean debut, selling more than a million copies of their new album.
Members EJ, Fuma, K, Nicholas, Yuma, Jo, Harua, Taki, and Maki, under HYBE’s YX Labels, released their debut Korean album “Back to Life” on Oct. 28.
According to Korea’s Hanteo Chart, &Team’s “Back to Life” sold a total of 1,139,988 copies on the first day of release on Oct. 28. With this, they topped Hanteo’s daily album chart with a physical index record score of 1.02 million.
This is the second time that &Team achieved a “million-seller” status. Their single “Go in Blind” was certified “million” by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ).
During their media showcase in Seoul, more than 90 reporters from major outlets covered the event.
"So our Korea debut album, 'Back to Life,' really reflects all of our teamwork that we've built in the past three years and our growth. You know, just like the title is saying, it represents our fierce determination for a new leap forward,” said &Team’s Maki.
The boy band performed “Back to Life” during the showcase.
Fuma said, “So the stage performance for ‘Back to Life’ expresses the nine of us bringing all of our energy into one and going forward. It's not just about the powerfulness, but also the choreo reflects the nervousness and pain that occurs when you're challenging yourself to reach your goal. So, I think you'll be able to watch it as if it were like a drama series.”
On their goal with “Back to Life,” member Jo said, “I think it's a great opportunity to share &Team’s many charms to those who don't know us yet and we want to show you how much we have grown in the past three years.”
“And one goal is, I would like to record number one in a K-pop music show in Korea. You know, I know that fans all around the world tune in to Korean music shows, so I want to make our fans proud by doing so,” he added.
K said, "So, we actually talked a lot about debuting in Korea during our tour. So I know that our fans have been waiting for this day as well. I really want to showcase our teamwork and to do that we really poured a lot of effort into it and I think this is going to be a wonderful challenge for us to take on and we really did our best to prepare for today. Our next goal I would say would be doing a world tour. So, I really hope that will come true and we'll get to meet with the fans.”
On their debut in Korea, Harua said, "I think of it this way. I love the culture of K-pop and it's not just about Korea, but K-pop is something that the whole world enjoys and the whole world can rejoice in the world of K-pop."
"So, we want to become global artists, and that's why we're challenging ourselves to our Korean debut. And what we're looking forward to the most is getting to meet our fans in Korea. That is something that we're really looking forward to and we can't wait. And we are promoting the album for a longer time in Korea. We're going to have some very fun activities and we're going to be on music shows as well. So we're looking forward to that,” he added.
