THE construction of a Catholic church in Dagupan City is underway.
A Catholic church will soon rise in Dagupan City – the Shrine of the Our Mother of Perpetual Help.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the new landmark of faith was held on Tuesday, Oct. 28.
The church honors the devotion of the late spouses Jimmy and Remedios Fernandez.
Archbishop Socrates Villegas of the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan who graced the ceremony said the occasion is a celebration of hope and urged the Church to remain steadfast in transforming society “through witness, wisdom, and unwavering hope.”
Dagupan City Mayor Belen Fernandez, daughter of the couple, said the church is a heartfelt tribute to her mother’s faith.
“This church rises not only from the ground, but from the heart,” Mayor Fernandez said. “It is built in remembrance of our beloved mother, whose life was a living prayer and whose faith continues to guide us.”
The church was designed by Dominic Galicia Architects and inspired by Byzantine iconography and local brickwork traditions, symbolizing a harmony between heritage and grace.
