Caraga police on heightened alert for 'Undas'

CAMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – The Police Regional Office-13 (Caraga) is on heightened alert for “Undas” or All Saints’ Day.
More than 1,000 police officers have been deployed to cemeteries and transport terminals, including sea and airports, and regional, provincial, and city mobile forces have been mobilized as backup forces.
“Police visibility has been increased in all areas of PRO-13 to prevent crimes while families visit cemeteries and memorial parks per directive of PRO-13 Regional Director Police Brig. Gen. Marcial Mariano P. Magistrado IV,” Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer, chief of the Regional Public Information Office (RPIO) of PRO-13, said.
“Magistrado instructed our field commanders and personnel to maintain visible presence and coordinate also with local government units and barangay officials to prevent burglary and other crimes while families are away,” Ometer said.
Field commanders were directed to conduct round-the-clock patrol in all power and communication facilities to avert saboteurs during the Undas observance, Navarro added.
Field commanders were directed to closely coordinate with other law enforcement agencies for unified action on untoward incidents.
A total of 1,816 police officers have been mobilized in the region for Undas.
In addition, 210 police assistance desks (PADs) in 192 public and private cemeteries and 70 motorist assistance centers (MAC) were strategically placed on major highways in the region.
About 2,800 force multipliers composed of personnel from the Armed Forces, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Coast Guard, local government units, and volunteer organizations will augment policemen.
“Lahat po kami ay ready na, all systems go,” Ometer added.
“We assure the public of our readiness to maintain peace and order, provide immediate assistance, and respond to any untoward incidents during the observance of the All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day,” Magistrado said.
Magistrado encouraged the people to cooperate with authorities and remain vigilant while visiting cemeteries, public areas, and tourist destinations.
