BACOLOD SWAT gets an upgrade with two new armored vehicles.
BACOLOD CITY – This highly-urbanized city has acquired two new customized Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) vehicles for the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) to boost the peace and order campaign here.
Mayor Greg Gasataya turned them over to Police Col. Joeresty Coronica, Bacolod police director, on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC).
Gasataya said SWAT personnel must be equipped with the right vehicles and gear.
“We take a firm step to strengthen our defense against crime and disorder, and these armored tactical vehicles, the first of its kind in Negros Island Region (NIR), are symbols of our readiness and determination to give our law enforcers the capability to respond swiftly and decisively when our people’s safety is on the line,” the mayor said.
Coronica thanked the city government for enhancing BCPO’s operational readiness.
“This will not only improve our response capabilities but also boost the morale of our SWAT personnel,” said Coronica who also requested additional ammunition, ballistic shields, and Level IV bulletproof vests from the city government.
