A man died and two others were injured when a wing van carrying sacks of flour crashed into a traffic light post and two other vehicles along Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City early Wednesday, Oct. 29.
According to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), the multiple-vehicle collision occurred at around 3:00 a.m. at the intersection of Mindanao and Congressional Avenues in Barangay Bahay Toro.
Personnel from Traffic Sector 6 immediately responded to the incident.
Initial investigation revealed that an Isuzu Wing Van Truck, driven by alias “Michael,” lost control while traversing Mindanao Avenue and hit a sedan.
The impact pushed the sedan forward, colliding with a taxi. The truck then continued moving and rammed into a traffic light post, causing additional property damage.
One of the truck’s helpers, identified as alias “Joel,” reportedly jumped off the moving vehicle and suffered severe head injuries.
He was rushed to the Quezon City General Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival at around 4:27 a.m.
Meanwhile, the driver and another helper sustained minor injuries and received medical treatment.
All involved vehicles and the damaged traffic light post were documented for disposition, while the truck driver remains under police custody pending further investigation and the filing of appropriate charges.
