Thunderbelles thump Angels to remain flawless; Cool Smashers prevail

ZUS Coffee continued its dominance in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference with a 25-22, 25-21, 25-20 victory over Petro Gazz at the FilOil EcoOil Arena on Tuesday, Oct. 28.
Anna DeBeer carried the fight throughout with a 23-point performance highlighted by 22 kills as the Thunderbelles extended their impressive franchis-best start with a pristine 4-0 record in Pool B.
AC Miner also provided support with 11 points built on eight attacks, two blocks and one ace as the victory overshadowed the efforts of Lindsey Vander Weide, Brooke Van Sickle and Myla Pablo for Petro Gazz.
Vander Weide and Van Sickle had 17 and 12 points, respectively, while Pablo added 10 points in a losing effort for the Angels.
The Angels fell to 3-2 as the loss snapped their two-game winning run.

In the nightcap, Creamline bucked a first-set hiccup and turned back Chery Tiggo, 23-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-17.

Courtney Schwan displayed another explosive performance, pumping in 29 points built on 25 attacks and four blocks to steer the Cool Smashers to their third win in five games.

Tots Carlos also spelled the difference for Creamline by delivering 15 kills for 17 points, while Pangs Panaga posted five blocks and finished with 16 points.

Chery Tiggo slipped to 1-4 despite the efforts of Yunieska Batista, who finished with 22 points, and Ces Robles and Mylene Paat, who combined for 21 points.
