OFW stabbed with screwdriver in Rizal; suspect arrested

A 39-year-old Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) was injured after being stabbed with a screwdriver by a man in Barangay San Jose, Rodriguez, Rizal, on Monday afternoon, Oct. 27.
According to the Rodriguez Municipal Police Station (MPS), the victim, identified as “Aira,” was walking to a store along B4, Phase 1, Kasiglahan Village in Barangay San Jose at around 4:45 p.m. when the attack occurred.
Police said the suspect, a 24-year-old man identified as “Patrick,” approached Aira from behind and, without apparent reason, stabbed her multiple times with a pointed screwdriver.
A witness intervened and managed to secure the weapon used in the attack.
Other citizens who also witnessed the crime promptly alerted nearby police officers, leading to the immediate arrest of the suspect and the confiscation of an approximately 8-inch screwdriver.
The victim was immediately brought to the hospital and is currently confined at East Avenue Medical Center.
The suspect is now under police custody and will face frustrated murder charges.
