A 70-year-old helper was found dead inside the house of her employer in Barangay San Isidro, Taytay, Rizal, the Taytay Municipal Police said on Monday, Oct. 27.
According to the police, the victim and the 45-year-old suspect, who worked as a caregiver for the victim's employer, had a heated argument after the victim allegedly mocked the suspect's family, which resulted in a physical altercation between the two.
The caregiver said the victim allegedly assaulted her first by throwing a glass at her, followed by an electric grinder. This forced her to hit the old woman in the head with the electric grinder multiple times.
Taytay Police Cpl. Daryll Jay Data, the case's lead investigator, said the suspect hit the victim with the tool no less than eight times, killing her instantly.
The police immediately launched a follow-up operation, which led to the caregiver's arrest in Rodriguez, Rizal.
She admitted to the crime, saying she was triggered by the hurtful words the victim said about her family.
"Kasi daw po yung mga anak ko daw po eh iba iba ang tatay. Kesyo yung asawa ko daw po may ibang babae. Sobrang sakit naman po siyempre (She said my children have different fathers and my husband has a mistress. Those words hurt me a lot)," the suspect said.
"Pinalo po ako sa tuhod ng kahoy kaya po ako panay pasa tapos yung grinder naman gusto niyang ipupok sakin kaya nung naagaw ko sa kanya yung grinder, sa kanya ko pinukpok (She hit me on the knee with a piece of wood, so I was full of bruises. She also wanted to hit me with the grinder, so when I grabbed the grinder from her, I hit her with it)," she added.
The police said the suspect is facing homicide charges.
